People were aware of this cave’s existence near Rudin above the Slivanj Cove for over a hundred years. Its pit-like entrance used to hide unknown secrets and the beauty of its calcite ornaments, firing people’s imagination.
Originally it was believed to be the hideaway where a smuggler had hidden his treasure. People gradually started to enter the cave, made its corridors safe, and became possible to visit it with more freedom. When lighting was introduced, even more people became interested in the riches of the underground gallery, filled with numerous stalactites, stalagmites and calcite pillars. It is about 110 meters long, and its spacious chambers cause delight with the beauty of their remarkable sediments.
Throughout the year, the cave temperature remains steadily between 10 and 13 degrees Celsius. Occasionally there is dripping from the ceiling and moisture accumulates, but only during rainy seasons. Its safe paths make it possible for everyone to visit the cave – from children to the elderly. This cave added to other natural and cultural attractions of the island of Krk, and it is open for the guests of Krk as well as those of Crikvenica Riviera
