About thirty pebble beaches facing the crystal clear sea await you in Baška.
The biggest tourist attraction in Baška is its 2km long natural pebble beach with a sand floor—Vela plaža—stretching along the town centre, surrounded by many bars, restaurants, pizzerias and cafés. There are also sports centres offering various activities such as tennis, mini golf, soccer, underwater fishing, diving, sailing etc.
Since 1999, the European Blue Flag has flown on Baška’s Big Beach and has become a trademark of Baška, as proof of the high quality of beach standards.
The Blue Flag is awarded by the Foundation for Environmental Education in Europe, and symbolises a well-preserved, safe and pleasant surrounding, clean sea and coast, and a beach that is well maintained, with a well developed system for management of the area.
On the beach you can hire pedal boats, windsurfers, parasols, sunloungers and other things to help you spend an enjoyable and carefree time on the beach.
Along with Vela plaža, there are as many as 30 other pebble beaches you can reach on foot or by boat.
Another special attraction of Baška is its 4km long walkway along the sea, flanked by restaurants and bars. Not only meant for walking, it is also appropriate for cycling, jogging and roller-skating.
Besides Vela Plaža, Baška is also home to more than thirty beaches; the most famous of these are the ones near the bays of Vela Luka and Mala Luka, the FKK beach near the Bunculuka camp, and the beaches of Konjska, Vrženica, Jablanovo, Storišće, and Dubna.
While many beaches may be reached on foot, some require a boat or taxi boat ride; the view from a distance which the last option offers, however, allows for a better enjoyment of the gorgeous local beaches steeped in peace and quiet.
